MTT Fundraising Success at NW200

13 May, 2007

NW200 - MTT Fundraising

Everyone at MTT would just like to say a big thank you to all those who helped out at the Car Park and Soup sale at the Church, yesterday.

Each year, we charge all vehicles parking in the Church grounds. The money raised, funds the MTT activities and MTT’s youthwork in Ballywillan each year, and also goes towards overseas missionary work.

It was a 07:30 start, and we were sold out of all our snacks and drinks in the Tuck Shop by mid-afternoon.

The total amount raised was £1961.34

A big thank you to everyone involved.

This week sees Youthreach kicking off on Tuesday 3rd April at 7.30pm.

For those who the word ‘Youthreach’ is new to, here is a bit about what it means:

Youthreach gives the young people of MTT the chance to bring their non-Christian friends along to the Church to ‘hang-out,’ for Food, Fun and Fellowship. The main aim of Youthreach is to bring young people to know Christ and the deepen the knowledge of those who already know Him.

Each morning, Trevor Loughridge, our Youth Co-ordinator will be giving the talks, and in the evenings we have three guest speakers namely Dave Clawson, Richard Johnson and Alistair Bennett.

We anticipate webcasting the worship and talks at the following times (approx):

Morning Worship/Talk: 10.00 – 11.30

Evening Worship/Talk: 19.30 – 20.45

Dave Clawson

Dave Clawson“Dave Clawson lives in Dundonald and having previously been involved in youth ministry and deodorant invention and is now almost finished his studies to be a minister. His passions include the Northern Ireland football, kebabs, being a disco DJ and Elvis. Dave will be speaking on the book of Jonah.”

He is a man of many varied talents having previously been lead singer of Halcyon Days, a Staff Worker with IFES, has completed a Masters on the Old Testament and he currently works as a Financial Adviser in Carrickfergus. Rick’s talk will provide an overview of the Old Testament”

Alistair Bennett

Alistair Bennett“Alistair Bennett is married to Suz and has a daughter Evie and a son Luke. He has previously worked for Youth for Christ and currently teaches RE at Carrick College. Ali is a well known speaker and singer and when he gets the chance a wedding singer! Ali will be speaking on the significance of Easter”

Boys’ Brigade Parents’ Night (Junior & Company Section)

30 March, 2007

Boys’ Brigade

Tonight saw around 50 boys put on a display for parents’ and friends of 1st Ballywillan Boys’ Brigade Junior & Company Sections.

The Guest of Honour was Trevor Loughridge, who is the Youth Co-ordinator at Ballywillan.

First off, the Junior Section demonstrated their Figure Marching followed by two teams from the Company Section showing us their skills at pitching tents. It didn’t stop there… Two teams of parents and friends were soon put to the test, to pitch and tidy away their tents – apparently the women won!!

This was followed by the Junior Section having ‘fun & games’, then the Company Section ‘Goin’ for a McJesus.’

Jackie Smyth, the Captain of the Boys’ Brigade, gave the Captains Report, and this was proceeded by the presentation of the prizes.

Finally a big thank you to all those involved in the Boys’ Brigade, for those who have given up so much of their time, and for the Boys’ hard work throughout the year.
