Boys’ Brigade Parents’ Night (Junior & Company Section)

30 March, 2007

Boys’ Brigade

Tonight saw around 50 boys put on a display for parents’ and friends of 1st Ballywillan Boys’ Brigade Junior & Company Sections.

The Guest of Honour was Trevor Loughridge, who is the Youth Co-ordinator at Ballywillan.

First off, the Junior Section demonstrated their Figure Marching followed by two teams from the Company Section showing us their skills at pitching tents. It didn’t stop there… Two teams of parents and friends were soon put to the test, to pitch and tidy away their tents – apparently the women won!!

This was followed by the Junior Section having ‘fun & games’, then the Company Section ‘Goin’ for a McJesus.’

Jackie Smyth, the Captain of the Boys’ Brigade, gave the Captains Report, and this was proceeded by the presentation of the prizes.

Finally a big thank you to all those involved in the Boys’ Brigade, for those who have given up so much of their time, and for the Boys’ hard work throughout the year.

Girls’ Brigade Annual Parents’ Evening

10 March, 2007

Girls' Brigade

Last night was the Girls’ Brigade Annual Parents’ Evening. The craic was great, and the display put on by the girls was tremendous – well done girls for all your hard work.

There was one event – the ‘Giant Sack Race’, which was just brilliant. There were three teams, two of which where girls from GB, and the other was friends & family. Both teams of girls had completed their two ‘runs’, so now we were just waiting for the other team to finish – what a wait it was!!!

Watch the video to find out why!

(In the sack is Willy Taylor, Stephen Williamson, Sylvia Starret, Paul Nash and Trevor Loughridge)

MTT – Jesus is the Light

5 March, 2007

At MTT on Sunday evening, we prepared for some outreach, which we plan to do over Youthreach, at Easter. We used, “Jesus is the Light of the World” as our theme. During Youthreach, we hope to give the light bulbs out during the Fungi Hunt to non-Christian people.

The idea was that each person got a light bulb, wrapped it up, and wrote a verse or something meaningful on it – something they would like to share with a non-Christian person.

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8 Verse 12
